James Handy, a character actor who appeared in \u201cJumanji\u201d and \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d was stabbed to death, and Los Angeles police arrested his girlfriend\u2019s son in the killing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Officers found the 81-year-old stabbed in the chest and unconscious outside his home Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department said. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Police had responded to the home after a 911 caller stated: \u201cI am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,\u201d according to the department.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Michael Gledhill was arrested after he told officers he was the person they were looking for, the department said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The 44-year-old, who lives at home with his mother, was booked on suspicion of one count of murder, according to police. His bail was set at $2 million, according to jail records.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It was not immediately clear if he had an attorney. Jail records did not show an attorney for him and messages left with the county public defender\u2019s office were not immediately returned.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Born in New York, Handy appeared in films and TV shows for decades.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was known for his role as an exterminator in the 1995 film \u201cJumanji\u201d and more recently as the bartender Jimmy in the 2022 film \u201cTop Gun: Maverick,\u201d according to IMDB. He\u2019s also appeared in some of the top TV crime dramas, including \u201cNCIS: Los Angeles,\u201d \u201cThe Closer\u201d and \u201cCold Case.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
