Top Gun: Maverick <\/i>actor James Handy<\/b><\/span><\/a>\u2019s suspected killer was reportedly seen on security footage after the alleged murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After Handy was killed on Wednesday, June 3, at the age of 81, local California police identified Michael Gledhill<\/b> as a suspect after he was seen on Ring footage outside the actor\u2019s house, according to footage obtained by TMZ<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Gledhill, 44, also allegedly called 911, per audio heard by People<\/i><\/span><\/a>. <\/i>Speaking with 911 dispatchers, the then-anonymous caller <\/i>said, \u201cI am the son of man. I just killed the man of sin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gledhill, who is the son of Handy\u2019s girlfriend, was arrested later on Wednesday, according to jail records viewed by Us Weekly. <\/i>Bail has been set for $2 million.<\/p>\n

Handy was an actor best known for roles in Top Gun: Maverick, Wolverine <\/i>and Jumanji.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cWith great sadness I can confirm that the gentleman who was attacked and killed on Wednesday in Tarzana was the actor James Handy,\u201d Handy\u2019s spokesperson told Us<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>in a Thursday, June 4, statement.<\/p>\n

Los Angeles police are currently investigating the alleged attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Los Angeles Police Department\u2019s Robbery-Homicide Division, Valley Bureau Section is currently investigating a stabbing that resulted in the death of an 81-year-old man,\u201d an LAPD statement<\/span><\/a> read, after officers responded to a 911 call of \u201cunknown trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

The press release continued, \u201cUpon their arrival, officers discovered 81-year-old James Handy in the front yard of the residence, unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to his chest. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n

After Handy was transported to the medical facility, LAPD officials claimed that Gledhill \u201cflagged down\u201d other responding officers and said \u201che was the one they were looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActor James Handy died at age 81 after being stabbed by his girlfriend\u2019s son. \u201cOn Wednesday, June 3, 2026, around 9:30 a.m., West Valley area patrol officers responded to a radio call of unknown trouble in the 19200 block of Erwin Street,\u201d Los Angeles police confirmed in a June 2026 statement. \u201cThe 911 caller stated, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Per the LAPD statement, Gledhill lived at the murder location with his mother.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetectives believe this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public at this time,\u201d police added in the statement. \u201cAnyone with additional information about this incident is asked to contact Robbery-Homicide Division, Valley Section.\u201d<\/p>\n
