Lizzo<\/strong><\/a> took a rather awkward pause when asked about her ongoing harassment lawsuits during a Today<\/em> <\/a>show appearance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got to ask you about the legal issues really quickly,\u201d Craig Melvin<\/strong> told Lizzo during the Friday, June 5, broadcast. \u201cYou win Record of the Year back in 2023 and then you\u2019ve got three of your backup dancers<\/a> who sue.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cThey claim hostile work environment, they claim sexual harassment. There were accusations of body-shaming, which have since been dismissed. What do you say to your fans about the allegations?\u201d<\/p>\n

Lizzo\u2019s demeanor visibly changed when Melvin, 47, started the discussion. While she started answering the question, Lizzo looked off to the side and paused her response \u2014 which made for a rather confusing moment during the live show.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, first off, it\u2019s nice to be able to be here and actually, you know \u2026 what happened?\u201d Lizzo said. She laughed and recovered with an, \u201cOh,\u201d before continuing her response.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s nice to be able to be here and give you an update in my own words,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s really important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLizzo has made headlines over the years, both for her empowering music and controversial moments. In 2017 and 2019, the singer was accused of plagiarism by British singer Mina Lioness and producer Justin Raisen over her 2017 single \u201cTruth Hurts.\u201d The drama surrounded one of the song\u2019s opening lines \u2014 \u201cI just took a DNA [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Lizzo noted the \u201cvictories\u201d she\u2019s gotten over the past few years, with one of the accusers dropping the \u201cfat-shaming claim.\u201d Lizzo also stated that several of the allegations \u201chad no merit in court,\u201d so they were dropped.<\/p>\n

\u201cI could have settled, but I\u2019m a woman who\u2019s not afraid of the truth coming out, so I\u2019m continuing to fight,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m really excited for all of the claims to be dropped and for us to just move forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melvin continued to press, asking if there was anything Lizzo would have \u201cdone differently,\u201d but she steered the conversation back to her album, Bitch<\/em>, which was released on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think that is the point of right now,\u201d Lizzo said. \u201cI just want to continue to think about my album and taking the things that I\u2019ve gone through and translating that into song to help other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMany viewers were surprised to see Lizzo present a 2024 Grammy Award amid her ongoing discrimination and harassment lawsuits. \u201cWhat\u2019s up, everybody?\u201d Lizzo, 35, exclaimed as she walked onto the stage, dancing to her \u201cAbout Damn Time\u201d single. \u201cHere\u2019s the Grammy Award that\u2019s gone to the all-time greats, from Stevie Wonder to Prince to Alicia [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed in August 2023 that three of Lizzo\u2019s former dancers accused her of fostering a hostile work environment<\/a> and allegedly pressuring them into a nude photo shoot. One dancer also claimed that she was fat-shamed by the musician. Lizzo addressed the suit in a statement<\/a> at the time.<\/p>\n
