No challenge, it would seem, is too great for Taylor Swift<\/a>. By recording \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You\u201d for Toy Story 5<\/em>, her latest project was a love story a lifetime in the making. No pressure, right?<\/p>\n In recent days, Swift dotted a trail with Toy Story 5 <\/em>easter eggs, and confirmed what super-fans knew all along with the release at midnight of the original song<\/a> \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n The track will appear in the latest addition of the beloved animated franchise, and is something of a dream come true. If proof were needed, Swift shared an adorable video of herself as a youngster, dressed as cowgirl Jessie, who lassoed us all in at the start of her journey back in Toy Story 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cWriting this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time,\u201d Swift writes in a social post. \u201cCreating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 til now\u2026 is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n Swift gave a shout out to the \u201cbrilliant\u201d Toy Story <\/em>5 director and screenwriter Andrew Stanton \u201cfor imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film.\u201d And gave a thank-you to \u201cthe incomparable\u201d Randy Newman for \u201cthe gorgeous sonic tapestry of songs and scores you\u2019ve meticulously woven over the years.\u201d Newman, she continued, \u201ccreated the Toy Story<\/em> musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cwe\u201d includes Swift and her frequent collaborator, producer and \u201cpal\u201d Jack Antonoff, who worked on the single, which she previously revealed was \u201cinspired by the rootin\u2019 tootin\u2019\u201d Jessie.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods,\u201d she says of her latest work.<\/p>\n \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You\u201d is Swift\u2019s first release since her hit 2025 album The Life of a Showgirl<\/em>, and arrives ahead of the movie\u2019s June 19 release, through Disney and Pixar.<\/p>\n Starring Tom Hanks (Sheriff Woody) Tim Allen (Buzz Lightyear), as well as Joan Cusack returning to voice Jessie,\u00a0Toy Story 5\u00a0<\/em>will show how Andy\u2019s old toys come to grips with a new electronic tablet taking over the attention of their current owner, Bonnie.<\/p>\n Best of Billboard<\/strong><\/p>\n Sign up for Billboard’s Newsletter<\/a>.
