{"id":2446861,"date":"2026-06-05T19:51:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T19:51:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2446861"},"modified":"2026-06-05T19:51:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T19:51:14","slug":"watch-moment-james-handys-suspected-killer-is-arrested","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/watch-moment-james-handys-suspected-killer-is-arrested\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch moment James Handy&#8217;s suspected killer is arrested"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Footage of Michale Gledhill, the suspected killer of actor James Handy, being arrested has emerged. <\/p>\n<p>In footage <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/06\/05\/james-handy-murder-suspect-arrest-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obtained by TMZ<\/a> on Friday, a cuffed Gledhill \u2014 the son of Handy\u2019s girlfriend Wendy Gledhill \u2014 is seen standing near a police vehicle as authorities search his pockets and pat him down.<\/p>\n<p>The alleged murderer is wearing a long sleeved shirt and dark pants, and appears calm throughout the interaction.<\/p>\n<p>Other Ring camera video obtained by the outlet shows Michael, 44, walking on the sidewalk past nearby residences following the alleged stabbing of the \u201cTop Gun: Maverick\u201d actor.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Michael Gledhill, the suspected killer of James Handy, was seen in footage obtained by TMZ being arrested and walking in the neighborhood following the actor\u2019s death (as seen above).  <span class=\"credit\">Fox11<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The 44-year-old appeared to remain calm.  <span class=\"credit\">Fox11<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Helicopters can be heard hovering as he continues his neighborhood walk.<\/p>\n<p>Michael \u2014 who lived with his mother and Handy \u2014 <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/05\/celebrity-news\/top-gun-maverick-actor-james-handys-murderer-called-911-with-chilling-confession\/\">called 911 with an eerie confession<\/a> following the longtime character actor\u2019s stabbing on Wednesday. <\/p>\n<p>According to audio obtained by People, a person told 911 operators, \u201cI am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cReal McCoy\u201d actor was then discovered unconscious in the front yard of his home in Tarzana, suffering from a stab wound to his chest.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>A caller offered a confession to 911 operators.  <span class=\"credit\">Fox11<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The \u201cTop Gun: Maverick\u201d actor was found on the front yard of his Tarzana, California, home, pictured above. <span class=\"credit\">BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the actor to a nearby hospital, Handy was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p>Michael, meanwhile, was charged with one count of murder following his arrest, and is reportedly being incarcerated at Van Nuys Jail, with a bail amount of $2 million. <\/p>\n<p>Per a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, prior to his arrest, Michael \u201cflagged down nearby responding officers, telling them he was the one they were looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement noted that \u201cthe suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim\u2019s girlfriend.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Handy was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Michael, the son of the actor\u2019s girlfriend, lived in the home (above).  <span class=\"credit\">BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The actor, pictured above in \u201cUnder the Gun,\u201d was 81.  <span class=\"credit\">ABC<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They added that they \u201cbelieve this is an isolated incident and there appears to be no danger to the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Wendy, 76, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/05\/celebrity-news\/james-handys-girlfriend-speaks-out-after-son-allegedly-murders-top-gun-maverick-actor\/\">spoke out on the tragedy <\/a>from her home in Tarzana, saying that she\u2019s \u201cjust trying to make it through one day at a time, a minute at a time.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>She told the California Post that she \u201cloved James and my son\u201d and \u201ccan\u2019t believe\u201d\u00a0her son was responsible for the alleged stabbing death. <\/p>\n<p>Prior to going back inside the house, Wendy said, \u201cI\u2019m just trying to \u2026\u201d before trailing off. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Handy\u2019s girlfriend, Wendy Gledhill, told TMZ that her son had been diagnosed with schizophrenia. She\u2019s seen above at her home on Friday.  <span class=\"credit\">David Buchan for CA Post<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Handy, seen above in a 1986 promotional photo, made his last public appearance in 2017.  <span class=\"credit\">20th Century Fox Licensing\/Merch<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Also on Friday, Wendy\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/06\/05\/james-handy-alleged-killer-had-schizophrenia-and-stopped-taking-medication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told TMZ<\/a>\u00a0that her son was <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/06\/05\/celebrity-news\/james-handys-girlfriend-claims-accused-killer-son-had-schizophrenia-stopped-taking-meds\/\">diagnosed with schizophrenia<\/a> last July, but had stopped taking medication for the condition \u201cabout a week\u201d before the stabbing incident.<\/p>\n<p>And though she claimed the actor and her son \u201cdidn\u2019t always see eye-to-eye,\u201d they had a \u201cgenerally cordial\u201d relationship. <\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Handy\u2019s family, per TMZ, she said through tears, \u201cThey know I loved him so much. I\u2019m so sorry. I\u2019m so sorry this happened. I\u2019m still in shock.
