FBI director Kash Patel<\/strong> is doubling down on claims that local police delayed involving the FBI in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Patel, 46, told NewsNation<\/a> on Thursday, June 4, that his agency offered support to Pima County, Arizona, law enforcement as soon as Nancy, the mother of Today<\/em> show cohost Savannah Guthrie<\/strong><\/a>, was reported missing on February 1.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe showed up immediately and offered our assistance. We were not let in for four days. And that\u2019s their choice,\u201d Patel said.<\/p>\n

Nancy is believed to have been abducted from her home just outside of Tucson in the early hours of February 1. She was last seen by family members on the night of January 31.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tActing U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche is speaking out on reports of \u201cfriction\u201d between federal and local authorities as the search continues for Savannah Guthrie\u2019s missing mother, Nancy Guthrie. \u201cThe FBI has worked closely since the day that this happened with the local law enforcement,\u201d Blanche, 51, told NewsNation\u2019s Ali Bradley in an interview published [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Nancy\u2019s disappearance attracted worldwide attention, with local and federal resources committed to the case.<\/p>\n

Questions have been raised over the past several months about decisions made by the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department, led by sheriff Chris Nanos<\/strong>, including sending DNA evidence collected at Nancy\u2019s home to a private Florida lab for testing<\/a> instead of the FBI\u2019s laboratory in Quantico, Virginia.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe offered our assistance to go test the DNA. And it\u2019s up to them. They chose to use a private laboratory,\u201d Patel said.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAs the search for Savannah Guthrie\u2019s mom, Nancy Guthrie, continues, authorities are remaining tight-lipped on some burning questions surrounding the case. Nearly a month after Nancy was kidnapped from her Tucson, Arizona, home, police have yet to identify a suspect or person of interest in the case. \u201cThis remains an active investigation and will continue [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The local police force previously denied delaying FBI involvement<\/a> in a statement to Us<\/em> in May after Patel made similar remarks that his bureau was initially shut out of the investigation during an appearance on Sean Hannity<\/strong>\u2019s podcast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cPima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is aware of FBI Director Kash Patel\u2019s recent interview and statement,\u201d a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff\u2019s Department said. \u201cSheriff Nanos responded to the scene the night of the incident, providing immediate local leadership and oversight.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spokesperson continued, \u201cA member of the FBI Task Force was also notified and present at that scene, working alongside our personnel. The FBI was promptly notified by both our department and the Guthrie family. While the FBI Director was not on scene, coordination with the Bureau began without delay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patel told NewsNation on Thursday that the FBI is continuing to assist the investigation, which remains unsolved.<\/p>\n
