Off Campus<\/em><\/a> star Mika Abdalla<\/strong> and ex-fianc\u00e9 Jake Short<\/strong> are speaking out exclusively to Us Weekly<\/em> regarding a controversial resurfaced podcast clip that\u2019s been making waves online following their split.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship, and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic,\u201d read the joint statement from Abdalla, 26, and Short, 29, about the resurfaced conversation from a 2024 episode of \u201cThe Sit and Chat\u201d podcast. (In the video, Short made a joke in reference to Abdalla that some social media users have since dubbed controversial online.)<\/p>\n

The former couple noted to Us<\/em> that they \u201cwere in a loving, respectful relationship for five years\u201d and \u201cit\u2019s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

The exes put on a united front just days after Us<\/em>\u00a0broke the news of their split<\/a> after five years together. In a statement to Us<\/em>, a rep for Abdalla said, \u201cBecause of the immense curiosity about Mika\u2019s personal life and in light of numerous erroneous reports, I can clarify that Mika and Jake are no longer in a relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n

The spokesperson noted that Abdalla and Short continue \u201cto support each other as friends,\u201d adding, \u201cI\u2019d ask that Mika\u2019s and Jake\u2019s privacy be respected at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former couple started dating after they met on the set of Sex Appeal in 2021, even getting engaged before parting ways. Abdalla,
has since been focused on her career following her breakout role on Prime Video\u2019s Off Campus<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince the cast was announced, I feel like there\u2019s been theories circulating online, and it\u2019s been really interesting to read it,\u201d she shared about the book to TV show changes. \u201cI for sure think people are going to be at least surprised.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abdalla specifically addressed the surprise introduction of Hunter Davenport (Charlie Evans<\/strong>)<\/a> \u2014 despite him not being linked to Allie in Kennedy\u2019s version of the story.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really important to have that scene to slow down what was happening between Allie and Dean. I want to see them kind of go. I want to see them really separate,\u201d Abdalla hinted. \u201cAllie just got out of a long-term relationship. She can\u2019t do what she always does. \u2026 I really like the edition of the Hunter story line drama. They need to grow as individuals. And so I really want to see Ali and Dean grow separately in season 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress was thrilled to see what would come next for Allie and Dean.<\/a><\/p>\n
