\n The Ruze, Chippenham\u2019s newest music venue, is expected to open soon as a \u201ccultural hub\u201d for live music and other community events.\n<\/p>\n
\n Construction to transform the building, previously an old garage on Union Road, has been ongoing since March after planning permission was granted by Wiltshire Council.\n<\/p>\n
\n A live music and event space will be created alongside a music recording studio and other facilities.\n<\/p>\n
\n As the project moves closer to completion, The Ruze has submitted a premises licence application as part of its preparations.\n<\/p>\n
\n The venue plans to sell alcohol from the bar area and has told the council it will take a number of steps to ensure this is done safely and responsibly.\n<\/p>\n
\n \n \u201cOur policies and procedures are designed to prevent crime and disorder, protect public safety, minimise public nuisance, and safeguard children from harm.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cThrough robust security measures, comprehensive staff training, effective noise management, and strict age verification, we will ensure our venue is run to the highest standards of compliance and professionalism, while making a positive contribution to Chippenham\u2019s cultural life.\u201d\n<\/p>\n \n The council is considering this application and interested parties can give their views during a consultation lasting until September 4.\n<\/p>\n \n The Ruze was co-founded by Jacob Roos and Steve Bent, who wanted to bring a new music venue to Chippenham after the loss of multiple similar destinations in the area.\n<\/p>\n \n When work started, Mr Roos said: \u201cThe recent loss of Moles in Bath was devastating to the music scene in Wiltshire and Somerset, and it is not the first time we have seen these types of closures.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cOur goal is to create a vibrant venue that supports both emerging and established artists while fostering a thriving community space for music lovers.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n \n The pair have years of experience in the music industry and once frequented Chippenham venues like Goldiggers.\n<\/p>\n \n Earlier this year, they urged local artists to get involved in the project.\n<\/p>\n \n Mr Bent added: \u201cAs we lay the foundations – both physically and within the community – we invite artists, businesses, and creatives to be part of this journey as we bring The Ruze\u202fto life.\n<\/p>\n \n \u201cWe are committed to hitting the ground running when we officially open this year, and we can\u2019t wait for everyone to be involved.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\nThe Ruze at the start of construction (Image: The Ruze)<\/em><\/span> The application said: \u201cThe Ruze is committed to operating as a safe, responsible, and community-focused grassroots live music venue.\n<\/p>\n
