Uma Thurman <\/b><\/a>has passed down many lessons to her daughter Maya Hawke<\/b><\/a> \u2014 and some are quite mystical.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother really taught me to love and respect nature and to, like, love gardening and being in nature and to love thinking about, like, herbal remedies to things,\u201d Hawke, 27, said on the Thursday, June 4, episode of NPR\u2019s \u201cWild Card\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a>. \u201cLike, you know, you get a cold, and she would make me a pineapple skin tea because the pineapple [has] enzymes in the pineapple skin are good for getting rid of your cold. It\u2019s stuff like that that\u2019s just sort of, like, witch-adjacent.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cYou know, like, slightly [witchy]. We\u2019re not bubbling over it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thurman, 56, shares Maya and son Levon, 24, with ex-husband<\/a> Ethan Hawke<\/b>. (Thurman and Hawke, 55, each have younger children from other relationships.)<\/p>\n

As for her dad, Maya believes Ethan is \u201cmagic in a different way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say he\u2019s witchy, but he used to do, like, treasure hunts and scavenger hunts for me as a kid where he\u2019d write little notes and, like, paint a map on a watercolor and cut it up,\u201d Maya recalled on Thursday. \u201cHe\u2019s, like, crafty and magical, but he\u2019s not witchy.\u201d<\/p>\n
