<\/story-highlights> The late Toby Keith<\/a>‘s hometown charity event<\/a> is celebrating America’s 250th birthday<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n The 22nd annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic<\/a> returns on June 12-13 with an America250 theme<\/a>. Even more than two years after the death<\/a> of the famously patriotic country music icon, the two-day event continues to serve as the largest annual fundraiser for the Toby Keith Foundation’s OK Kids Korral<\/a>, a cost-free home-away-from-home for children seeking medical treatment in Oklahoma City.<\/p>\n Opening with the annual Friday night dinner at Norman’s Riverwind Casino, the invitation-only event carries over into Saturday with the yearly shotgun-start golf tournament at Keith’s Belmar Golf Club<\/a> in Norman.<\/p>\n Country music star Trace Adkins<\/a>, who is playing his 30th anniversary tour this year,<\/a> is headlining the entertainment at the June 12 event. Celebrated radio and television personality Shawn Parr<\/a> and business leader and philanthropist Jim West will be hosting the gala and leading the live auction.<\/p>\n The 2025 event raised $1.4 million, just below the all-time mark set two years ago, when the 20th annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic swung more than $3.1 million, which helped establish an endowment<\/a> to ensure the future of the OK Kids Korral.<\/p>\n Also in 2024, the Toby Keith Foundation<\/a> marked the 10th anniversary of the OK Kids Korral by bestowing $10,000 in grants to 10 local children’s charities.<\/p>\n Keith, who died Feb. 5, 2024,<\/a> at age 62 after a multiyear battle with stomach cancer<\/a>, told The Oklahoman in 2019<\/a> that he considered the OK Kids Korral<\/a> “probably my greatest accomplishment.”<\/p>\n Since his death, Keith’s wife, Tricia Covel<\/a>, and their three children \u2014 daughters Krystal Keith<\/a> and Shelley Covel<\/a> and son Stelen Covel<\/a> \u2014 have vowed to continue his foundation’s work in his home state.<\/p>\n “Somebody has to carry the torch, somebody has to lead the charge in raising money and making sure that this foundation is able to continue to support the Korral.
