Keke Palmer<\/a> had Issa Rae<\/a> concerned that she was leaving entertainment to join a mysterious cult.<\/p>\n The I Love Boosters<\/em><\/a> star pranked the actress and producer in a recent installment of ELLE<\/em><\/a>\u2019s Phoning It In<\/em>, also pranking filmmaker Boots Riley<\/a> and actress-singer Teyana Taylor<\/a>. Around the 3-minute mark of the video below, Palmer dialed up Rae and told her that after attending a retreat, she saw a \u201cshaman\u201d and joined a cult.<\/p>\n \u201cWell, don’t look it up because they’re just going to tell you it’s a cult,\u201d Palmer said through fake tears. \u201cI got into it with my mom. Obsess.<\/a><\/p>\n After saying that she\u2019s \u201cleaving everything behind,\u201d Palmer shouted that the industry has held her at \u201cgunpoint\u201d her entire life. After denying that she was judging Palmer, Rae said she was \u201cconcerned.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody concerned. But nobody didn’t do anything,\u201d Palmer said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat were we supposed [to do]? What do you need us to do?\u201d Rae asked.<\/p>\n After the Insecure<\/em> creator shared that she couldn\u2019t spell the cult\u2019s name, Palmer finally confessed. \u201cWhat you need to look up is ELLE Magazine <\/em>because I’m actually pranking you,\u201d Palmer joked. \u201cI was like, I got to call my girl and get her pranked up. I was like, she’s going to love this. Let’s give her the cult story line.\u201d<\/p>\n Rae was a producer of 2025 buddy-comedy One of Them Days<\/em>, which co-starred Palmer and SZA<\/a>.
