Billy Joel was on Long Island<\/a> on Saturday to induct his longtime booking agent, Dennis Arfa<\/a>, into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame<\/a> (LIMEHOF<\/a>) in Stony Brook.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got an encyclopedic memory and the ability to execute a large strategy and focus on the details,\u201d Joel said of Arfa, speaking at the podium.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a rare skill in this business and that\u2019s why so many people wanted to work with him: Rod Stewart, Metallica, Rodney Dangerfield, Andrew Dice Clay, Deaf Leopard,\u201d Joel said. \u201cThey saw what I saw: passion, integrity, instinct and results. Dennis didn\u2019t just have ideas; he had the nerve to follow through on them. He broke the mold and he helped shift the industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arfa, who represented Joel for more than 50 years, is credited as the architect of\u00a0the Piano Man\u2019s residency at\u00a0Madison Square Garden<\/a>, as well as his stadium runs at\u00a0Fenway Park,\u00a0Wrigley Field,\u00a0Citizens Bank Park\u00a0and more.\n<\/p>\n

\u201cMy life in show business originated on Long Island and it has always been my home,\u201d Arfa said.\u00a0\u201cThank you to the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame for this hometown honor.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

Arfa joins more than 140 musicians \u2013 including Joel \u2013 and industry executives from Long Island who are LIMEHOF inductees.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis reputation and accomplishments are second to none as he has established himself as one of the top music executives<\/a> in the country for the past 50 years\u201d, Ernie Canadeo, LIMEHOF chairman said of Arfa.\n<\/p>\n

Arfa is the chairman of the Music Division at Independent Artist Group<\/a>. The agency, according to LIMEHOF, represents Sleep Token, Ghost, Neil Young, The Strokes, Cage the Elephant, Pantera, Falling in Reverse, The Smashing Pumpkins, Poison, Elvis Costello and others.\n<\/p>\n

Saturday\u2019s event was part of the two-day Billy Joel<\/a> Symposium, which featured more than 20 speakers, from 11 states, including scholars, critics, musicians and students providing critical analysis of Joel\u2019s artistry, life and legacy.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n
