But he has no idea how he got there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tA busy actor for the last three decades, Hatosy became a celebrity in projects like \u201cThe Faculty\u201d and \u201cOutside Providence.\u201d He earned a spot in millions of viewers\u2019 homes when leading TNT crime drama \u201cSouthland,\u201d followed by \u201cAnimal Kingdom.\u201d Both of those TV series have something huge in common with the project that Hatosy is now in the headlines for, \u201c<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/the-pitt\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-pitt\" data-tag=\"the-pitt\">The Pitt<\/a>.\u201d And by something, we mean someone: Producer John Wells.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  size-large alignnone \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure  lrv-u-font-family-secondary u-color-medium-grey lrv-u-border-b-1 u-border-color-light-grey-tint-two u-margin-b-150 lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:792px\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  \">\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis time last year, Hatosy told me how \u201cfull circle\u201d talking about \u201cThe Pitt\u201d felt, since he once had a guest spot on another little Wells project: \u201cER.\u201d Little did he know then that his part on another massive Wells medical drama would win him an Emmy for his guest role of Dr. Jack Abbot.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tViewers fell in love with Abbot from his first appearance in Season 1, both for his charm and dry wit (something that Hatosy believes comes from creator R. Scott Gemmill), and his undeniable chemistry with Noah Wyle\u2019s Dr. Michael \u201cRobby\u201d Robinavitch. The pair have a history and connection that doesn\u2019t need heavy dialogue; the comfort felt in a silent look exchanged is powerful enough. In the final two episodes of the second season, Abbot reminds Robby, who is struggling with his mental health and admits he\u2019s not sure he wants to be alive, that he\u2019s his emergency contact. \u201cAnd I don\u2019t want to be contacted,\u201d Abbot tells him \u2014 in a tone that\u2019s not funny or harsh but reassuring and loving.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ve just been kicking around for so long. We\u2019ve seen each other at the John Wells holiday parties for 20 years now,\u201d Hatosy says now of his bond with Wyle. \u201cThere\u2019s something about that chemistry when you just have a level of trust and understanding of each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHatosy applauds the way Wyle arrives each day, both prepared and spontaneous, something vital to the way \u201cThe Pitt\u201d operates. \u201cWhen you have a leader like that, it brings out the best in everyone,\u201d he says. \u201cBeing in a scene with Noah, I never stress about those scenes. I feel very free. I feel like I have no inhibitions about choices and I can take big risks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTheir relationship is extremely important to the story \u201cbecause it\u2019s not about medicine in those moments, it\u2019s about survival,\u201d Hatosy adds. \u201cBy the time you get to the end of Season 2, that release hits in a different way than the rooftop scene in Season 1. This is time, pressure, everything going unchecked, finally reaching a breaking point that demands something real. Despite not sharing a ton of screentime, the Season 2 scene they did have featured her helping dress his wound and Abbot without a shirt on \u2014 which immediately became internet memes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHatosy explains that the Mohan-Abbot connection \u201cwasn\u2019t made up,\u201d but also wasn\u2019t guided in detail by the writers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cSupriya and I were told we don\u2019t know exactly what it is, but there\u2019s something there, and you could see it in the writing,\u201d he says. \u201cWe didn\u2019t explore it and having something behind it really energizes this attraction, or whatever you call it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGanesh recalls being told by the writers in Season 1 that Mohan and Abbot would be good together \u2014 something she hadn\u2019t thought of. \u201cI just remember being like, \u2018There\u2019s no way,\u2019\u201d she recalls. But Hatosy saw it, too. \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018No, I\u2019ve been saying that too since the beginning.\u2019 The more I thought about it, I thought, I do kind of see it. They\u2019re both really lonely, they\u2019re both really stunted in their own ways. They both pour a lot of themselves into work. I think they really understand each other because of that.\u201d<br \/>He\u2019s also a vital person at work for Mohan, she says. \u201cHe really does support her in a way that you don\u2019t see a lot of characters supporting her,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tUnfortunately, Ganesh won\u2019t be returning for Season 3, but that doesn\u2019t mean there couldn\u2019t be some sort of romance for Abbot in the future. In a <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@tvinsider\/video\/7635726797916736782\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">recent interview<\/a>, Sepideh Moafi, who plays Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi, joked that maybe she and Abbot have some sort of history \u2014 maybe a one-night stand. But sure, maybe it\u2019s Al-Hashimi. Who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPart of the reason he didn\u2019t see the interview was because he\u2019s taken a step away from social media \u2014 something that felt necessary this season as some of the commentary became too intense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019ve had to kind of step back. Because sometimes it goes into these weird places where if fans disagree about a character, they start to turn on each other. That is not what this is supposed to be,\u201d he says. \u201cAll through my career, I\u2019ve had a pretty good relationship with social media, but now, seeing how all this is unfolding, I\u2019m kind of reevaluating what that looks like.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBoth seasons of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d have ended with the night shift coming in, giving audiences a peek at a new group of doctors, led by Abbot. That, of course, has sparked a conversation online about the possibility of a night shift spinoff \u2014 something Hatosy would jump at, if it made sense.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI love the character, and I really would love to see more of him and how he operates, but \u2018The Pitt\u2019 is its own thing,\u201d he says. \u201cIf it made sense creatively, for sure. I would love the opportunity to see more of Abbot. It\u2019s a fun character. I think tonally, it could be a different kind of show. It doesn\u2019t have to follow those parameters. It could be different. But I would never want to take anything away from the success of what\u2019s happening with \u2018The Pitt.\u2019 So, down the road, if that was an opportunity, I\u2019d be all for it. It seems to be something that people want. Down the road, I think it\u2019s a possibility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut Hatosy is very busy. For this cover shoot, he\u2019s flying in and out of Los Angeles in the same day, as he\u2019s filming FX\u2019s thriller \u201cCry Wolf\u201d with Olivia Colman and Brie Larson. And before that, he was playing a psychopath in \u201cReady or Not 2\u201d alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar. (There was even a billboard on Sunset Boulevard featuring him removing his shirt; he received many texts from friends about that.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t know how this happened,\u201d he says. \u201cI\u2019m starting to blush! I\u2019m surprised by it, to be honest. I really am, because I just never would have thought that that guy that walked in to do \u2018The Pitt\u2019 \u2026 it just doesn\u2019t compute. But look, the opportunities that I\u2019m seeing now because of all of it, are different and exciting. I\u2019m in different rooms talking about projects that are really, really exciting. The only thing you can do is, first of all laugh, because that\u2019s important, and then embrace. You have to embrace it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAnd he\u2019s trying to. \u201cQuinn was a step in that direction,\u201d he says. \u201cI was nervous to do it too, because it requires vulnerability and trust in a weird way. But then I understood the philosophy and the company, which really is so inspiring. I feel really good about it.
