Blur bassist Alex James<\/a> will host three events in London<\/a> this month in celebration of football and music during the World Cup<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 57-year-old musician<\/a> will take over a pop-up space in Trafalgar Square<\/a>, hoping to bring fans together ahead of England<\/a>‘s crucial group-stage matches.<\/p>\n The football competition will kick off on June 11, and James is scheduled to perform DJ sets at a series of Britpop-themed events at the Lost Oasis venue on June 16, 22 and 26.<\/p>\n Known for his role in Blur, the Britpop band who were formed in 1988, and have released chart-topping tracks such as Country House and Beetlebum.<\/p>\n The rock band, from London<\/a>, also consists of lead singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon and drummer Dave Rowntree and have won many prizes such as five Brit Awards<\/a> across their decades-long career.<\/p>\n Blur members Alex James, Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, and Dave Rowntree (PA)<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n The group have been on hiatus multiple times in recent years, having last returned to the spotlight together in 2023 with the release of their latest album and a series of comeback gigs.<\/p>\n James, who is an avid football fan, is also known for co-writing the 1998 England<\/a> football anthem Vindaloo sung by Fat Les \u2013 which peaked at number two on the UK singles chart.<\/p>\n Speaking about the upcoming gigs, he said: “Football unites us.
