It holds up today.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tSmith said the friendship between the Angels has \u201cgone the distance\u201d and that they keep in touch. When Fawcett left the show after its first season, \u201cWe were shocked and disappointed. But when somebody is not happy, how do you ask them to stay?\u201d After a legal battle, Fawcett came back to the show for a few more seasons.<\/p>\n \n\tSmith\u2019s overnight fame through \u201cCharlie\u2019s Angels\u201d enabled her to launch her fashion collection in 1985, exclusively at Kmart. \u201cI was involved in everything, from the cut to the prices to where the buttons were applied.\u201d Her brand was one reason why Kmart survived despite mismanagement, bankruptcy and constant store closings over the years. The Jaclyn Smith collection disappeared for awhile until January 2023, when it relaunched on\u00a0HSN. Branding is day to day. Business is day to day.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShe collects jewelry, including vintage pieces from Cartier and Tiffany, and antique watches and bracelets. \u201cMy husband loves to give me jewelry and always buy antique jewelry. My engagement ring was from the 1920s.\u201d Deco is her favorite period.<\/p>\n \n\tShe said her book delves into her Texas roots and her \u201cidyllic childhood\u201d in Houston riding her bicycle, playing Jacks and in the summer, riding horses on her uncle\u2019s farm. \u201cIt was every kid\u2019s dream. We didn\u2019t have computers or cell phones. I want people to know how I grew up. My book hopefully captures family. That\u2019s everything I am about.\u201d There are also chapters covering her movies, actors, mentors and what people should know about fame.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFame is a crazy thing. It gives and it takes,\u201d Smith said. But writing the book \u201cwas the hardest thing I\u2019ve ever done.
