The Princess of Wales looked stunning as she attended the wedding of Peter Phillips to Harriet Sperling on Saturday, but some royal fans think she fell victim to a relatable fashion mishap.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Kate, 44, wore a blush tweed dress by French fashion designer Roland Mouret, paired with a straw boater hat from Jane Taylor, nude court heels, and a cream clutch bag from Aussie high street brand, Forever New.<\/p>\n
The princess opted for a natural look, with subtle makeup, her hair styled in loose waves, and understated nude nail polish.<\/p>\n
However, some eagle-eyed royal watchers claimed that upon closer inspection, Kate’s nails were chipped and peeling.<\/p>\n
“You can see in the photos that there are a few chips on some of Kate’s nails. It’s subtle, but there is evidence of a little peeling,” HELLO! Magazine’s fashion and beauty editor wrote.<\/p>\n
“This is a hugely relatable beauty problem, and we’ve all been in this position before.”<\/p>\n
Despite the supposed fashion blunder, royal fans were quick to defend the future Queen, with one writing on social media: “So what if she’s got chipped nails, she was stunning.”<\/p>\n
“Thought she looked stunning and not taking away from the limelight, which was Peter and Harriet. Classy Kate as usual,” echoed another.<\/p>\n
A third person chimed in: “Sounds like every working mother I know,” while another joked: “I\u2019m so glad no one photographs me whenever I leave the house.”<\/p>\n
It is royal etiquette to keep nails neutral for public engagements, and Kate typically sticks to nude or pale pink shades in favour of bright colours.<\/p>\n
The late Queen Elizabeth II set the precedent for this royal tradition, famously only wearing Essie nail polish in the shade Ballet Slippers since the late 1980s.<\/p>\n
Kate attended Peter and Harriet’s nuptials over the weekend with her husband, Prince William, 43. Their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were not in attendance.<\/p>\n
Other royal attendees included King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Zara and Mike Tindall, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie<\/a>. It is understood that Prince Harry and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were not invited.<\/p>\n Peter, 48, and Harriet, 45, said their vows at the All Saints Church in Kemble<\/a>, Gloucestershire, which is close to Anne’s Gatcombe Estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n The NHS nurse wore a lace gown by New Zealand designer Emilia Wickstead, complete with long sleeves, a sophisticated high neckline, and a dramatic veil, as well as the Pragnell family tiara.<\/a><\/p>\n Her three bridesmaids comprised her daughter, Georgina, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Antonio St John Sperling, and Peter’s daughters Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14, from his first marriage to Autumn Phillips.<\/p>\n
