Interpol<\/a> have announced details of their eighth studio album. Spanning 12 tracks, This Mirror Weighs a Ton<\/em> is due out August 28th and marks their debut release with Partisan Records.<\/p>\n The band\u2019s first album since 2022\u2019s The Other Side of Make-Believe<\/em><\/a>, This Mirror<\/em> sees Interpol \u201cexpand their sonic palette with the addition of strings, woodwinds, layered vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, and experimental sound design,\u201d according to a press release. As part of this musical growth, Interpol were joined by producer Andrew Wyatt (ROSAL\u00cdA, Charli xcx), recording This Mirror<\/em> at Wyatt\u2019s studio on Manhattan\u2019s Lower East Side (their first time at a \u201chomebase\u201d studio in roughly a decade).<\/p>\n Get Interpol Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n In fact, as guitarist Daniel Kessler put it in a statement, so much of what the album eventually became hinged on the title track.<\/p>\n \u201cI was right next to Andrew when he started doing these incredible things with the sound design, and it was just so exciting,\u201d Kessler said. \u201cI remember thinking, I don\u2019t have context for what kind of music this is \u2014 these big crashes happening before Paul even had a vocal. Logic would have said maybe this is an instrumental. Then Paul just got up, went into the back room and started singing those melodies \u2014 and suddenly it was clearly not going to be.\u201d<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n As part of today\u2019s announcement, Interpol have released two new singles, the title track and \u201cSee Out Loud\u201d<\/a> (which the band recently debuted at Coachella earlier this spring). The press release calls the combined tracks \u201ca study in duality, with Interpol stretching the edges of their identity without losing the pulse that made them essential.\u201d Check out both songs below.<\/p>\n In support of This Mirror<\/em>, Interpol have a forthcoming North American tour<\/a> that kicks off July 31st. There\u2019s shows following throughout both summer and fall in Boise, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, and more.
