Though often grouped with alt-country artists, her work has always resisted easy categorization. Her songs draw equally from folk traditions, power-pop, gothic storytelling, and surrealist imagery, all delivered through one of contemporary music\u2019s most commanding voices. From the breakthrough <em>Fox Confessor Brings the Flood<\/em> (2006) through <em>Middle Cyclone<\/em> (2009) and <em>Hell-On<\/em> (2018), Case has built a catalog that prizes curiosity over convention and transformation over consistency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her latest album, <em>Neon Grey Midnight Green<\/em>, released last fall, may be the clearest expression yet of that ethos.
