Human rock ‘n’ roll factory Ty Segall rarely goes for a long time without announcing a new record, so perhaps you won’t be shocked to learn that he’ll release a new album and<\/em> a new EP later this summer. But that’s obviously good news. This guy is great at what he does, and he can keep flooding the zone as long as he wants. Last year, Segall released the solo LP Possession<\/a><\/em>. Since then, he’s helped out on records from people like Upchuck<\/a> and White Fence<\/a>. Now, he’s got his band back together, and they’re about to hit you with some riffs. <\/p>\n Ty Segall works with a close core of collaborators, many of whom have done cool shit on their own. He recorded the upcoming Chrome<\/em> with singer\/guitarist Emmett Kelly, singer\/bassist Mikal Cronin, singer\/keyboardist Ben Boye, and drummer Evan Burrows. The full band wrote half the songs together, and Segall co-wrote a few more with Kelly. Matt Yoka and Den\u00e9e Segall made some contributions, too. <\/p>\n Along with Chrome<\/em>, Segall will also release Love Fuzzz<\/em>, a two-song 7″ of songs from the album sessions. The title track is a new version of “Love Fuzz,<\/a>” from Segall’s 2012 album Twins<\/em>, while B-side “My Pet Guru” is reportedly on some krautrock shit. As for Chrome<\/em>, lead single “Black Paint” is a triumphantly catchy riff-bomb, and you can really shake your hair to it. Director Alex Bulli shot the video at multiple Segall live shows.
