Erin<\/strong><\/a> and Ben Napier<\/strong> <\/a>are recalling the devastating fire that ran through The Heirloom hotel in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if you want to leave all this in there, but the fire happens,\u201d Ben, 42, said on the Sunday, June 7, episode of \u201cThe Heirloom\u201d<\/a> podcast, revealing there was a chain of events that happened after the blaze. \u201cA close member of the extended family goes into the hospital and nobody really knows what\u2019s going on. Erin\u2019s parents chose to have their dog put down that week, and then Erin\u2019s turning 40.\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin and Ben<\/a>\u2019s Home Town<\/em> spinoff Home Town: Inn This Together<\/em> finished its four-episode run in May, following the couple<\/a> working to transform a historic building in Laurel, Mississippi, into the Heirloom hotel alongside friends Jim<\/strong> and Mallorie Raspberry<\/strong> and Josh Nowell.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the final episode, viewers watched the August 2025 fire that caused damage and delayed the hotel opening. During the Sunday episode, Erin, 40, went on to recall how Mallorie volunteered to host her 40th birthday party amid the incident.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThey may design houses for a living, but the last thing Erin and Ben Napier plan to do is curate an elaborate birthday celebration for their kids. In a joint interview with Today.com published on Tuesday, September 9, the Home Town stars admitted they\u2019re decidedly \u201canti-giant birthdays\u201d when it comes to their daughters, Helen, 7, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAnd I was like, \u2018We are not having the party this weekend. That is not happening.\u2019 And Mallorie said, \u2018I need to be with all my people.\u2019\u201d Erin said. \u201cSo we had the party, and it was the saddest party in the world. All I wanted for my birthday was to eat dip. So, we ate dip and cried.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ben and Erin and their friends recalled how the group rallied around each other at the time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the fire happened, that\u2019s what was kind of nice about your birthday party. The locals understood how hard we had been working, but the public had not \u2014 they don\u2019t really know until these episodes have aired how hard we were all working to make this happen,\u201d Josh said. \u201cAnd so, that was pretty special to have friends and just to be around each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
