LOS ANGELES \u2212 The biggest question swirling around the star-studded “Toy Story 5” Hollywood premiere<\/a> on June 9 has to do with a superstar who doesn’t voice a character in the wildly anticipated animated sequel (in theaters June 19<\/a>).<\/p>\n Will Taylor Swift<\/a> show up on the red carpet to make it a “Tay Story”?<\/p>\n The 14-time Grammy-winning singer<\/a> set “Toy Story”-mania in full tilt when she announced she’d sing the original song “I Knew It, I Knew You”<\/a> in the fifth installment, a song written by Swift and collaborator Jack Antonoff.<\/a><\/p>\n “I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I\u2019ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first ‘Toy Story’ movie,” Swift wrote on Instagram<\/a> for her 273 million followers. “I fell instantly in love with ‘Toy Story 5’ when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. What a freakin’ honor,” Stanton said of the online speculation sparked by Swift’s website countdown and the “Toy Story”-style imagery.<\/p>\n Stanton appeared to squash some fan theories by stating that Swift song’s was not ending the movie. At least, not in the early edits.<\/p>\n “The sad truth is we watched the movie being mixed last week, and the song on the end was not\u00a0Taylor Swift,” he said.<\/p>\n This carefully worded situation could have changed by the final cut of the film.<\/p>\n On June 1, Swift dropped the song news, highlighting three versions of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” inspired by the rootin\u2019 tootin\u2019 cowgirl Jessie\u2019s “Toy Story 5” journey.<\/p>\n “It\u2019s incredible just how meaningful it\u2019s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable,” Stanton said in a statement. “The song is so deeply connected to \u2018Toy Story.\u2019 So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member.
