Scheduled attractions include a\u00a0Ferris wheel and carousel, as well as rodeo and livestock competitions.<\/p>\nA lineup of music superstars rounded up to perform has collapsed significantly in the last two days, with Vanilla Ice and Flo Rida<\/a> among the remaining acts.<\/p>\nThe rest of the fair’s performers have walked back their involvement with the event.<\/p>\n
Bret Michaels<\/a>, the latest musician to announce his departure, attributed his exit to the event becoming “divisive” as well as threats to his loved ones.<\/p>\n“Unfortunately, what was presented to us as a celebration of our country has evolved into something much more divisive than what I agreed to be a part of,” the former Poison star, originally set to perform July 3, wrote in a lengthy Instagram<\/a> post. “Concerns have also been raised regarding the safety of my fans, band, crew, family and myself, including threats that are completely unfounded and unforgivable.”<\/p>\nCountry star Martina McBride, set for a June 25 performance, shared her decision to exit the lineup on X<\/a> Thursday, saying the event was presented to her as “non-partisan,” but “that turned out to be misleading.”<\/p>\nThe Commodores, meanwhile, announced their exit in a succinct Instagram<\/a> post.<\/p>\n“Our music has always been our voice and we choose not to publicly affiliate with any single political party. We support the betterment of all Americans,” the R&B group said Thursday.<\/p>\n
R&B group Milli Vanilli<\/a> also seemingly bowed out of the upcoming concert, with singer Jodie Rocco telling The Associated Press<\/a> in an email Thursday that the group was not contacted to perform at the event. Fellow Milli Vanilli singer Fab Morvan released his own statement confirming his attendance.<\/p>\n“My sister and I were shocked to see our name, ‘Milli Vanilli,’ as one of the performers,” Rocco told the AP.<\/p>\n

C+C Music Factory frontman Freedom Williams, who was also slated to perform June 26, said in an Instagram video<\/a> that he was not informed of the Great American State Fair’s affiliation with President Trump<\/a> when he was booked for the event.<\/p>\n“[My agent] didn’t mention Trump. … I’m getting all these texts, ‘We’re going to cancel C+C Music Factory. This is going to be a terrible show,'” Williams said. “So, I told my agent, ‘Yeah, no, I ain’t good to do that. I don’t [support] Trump.”<\/p>\n
Williams later teased in an expletive-ridden tirade that he might go ahead with the performance to spite his detractors, saying, “The day I let you … tell me what to do is the day I die. … You can’t cancel me.”<\/p>\n

In a statement released Wednesday, Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli confirmed he will be performing at the Great American State Fair on June 26 as part of the I Love the ’90s Tour.<\/p>\n
“I am here to entertain and unite people, not divide them,” Morvan said. “Let’s celebrate life [and] music and take a trip down memory lane. I feel honored to be a part of the Great American State Fair, as it will celebrate the 250-year anniversary of America with so many other accomplished artists.”<\/p>\n
It’s unclear if the other members of Milli Vanilli will also participate in the performance. USA TODAY has reached out to Morvan’s representative for additional comment.<\/p>\n
Morvan comprised the original Milli Vanilli lineup alongside Rob Pilatus in the late ’80s. Although Morvan and Pilatus were the group’s frontmen, producer Frank Farian hired vocalists Brad Howell, John Davis, Charles Shaw, Jodie Rocco and Linda Rocco to sing the band’s songs, while Morvan and Pilatus danced and lip-synced in live performances.<\/p>\n
The public’s discovery of this arrangement led to a swift backlash, including Milli Vanilli’s best new artist Grammy being revoked. Morvan and Pilatus later reformed as Rob & Fab in the ’90s, although with limited commercial success.<\/p>\n
