Billy Ray Cyrus <\/b><\/a>is revealing his past near-fatal health scare.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got really sick and almost died,\u201d Cyrus, 64, told People<\/i><\/span><\/a> <\/i>in a cover story published Wednesday, June 10. \u201cAs I was trying to stay alive, at times they sent me home from the hospital, and I\u2019d be there with [my dog] Tommy Jack. My body was blowing up and there was a toxicity of some type of whatever. If it would have erupted, I would have died.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cIn the last moment, I had a prayer answered<\/a>. There\u2019s a prayer rock, and I found my knee. Part of the reason it\u2019s so white is [because] I started getting on that rock every morning, every day, every sunset, every night. I [would] put my knee in there. I was like, \u2018God, please. I need a miracle. I need a miracle.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus was soon set to have \u201cone last surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBilly Ray Cyrus has faced ups and downs throughout his career in the spotlight. Cyrus, complete with his signature mullet, rose to fame in 1992 with the release of his chart-topping Grammy-nominated single \u201cAchy Breaky Heart.\u201d He\u2019s since released 16 studio albums and been nominated for seven Grammy Awards. Cyrus, also an actor best known [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI got to the hospital, they go, \u2018Mr. Cyrus, it\u2019s gone, you\u2019re healed,\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201c[I] had a miracle. Love, hope, music, joy, things that I\u2019d really have forgotten exactly, maybe, what they felt like, and I go, \u2018Oh!\u2019 Even to dream again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus especially dreamed of making music again after a vocal paralysis diagnosis in 2024 left him physically unable to sing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been stricken with a disease and I have no voice. I can\u2019t talk,\u201d he said. \u201cI start believing, once I had the first miracle, I said, \u201cCyrus, you can\u2019t talk or sing now, but believe you can.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Cyrus soon began \u201cleaning into\u201d playing daughter Noah\u2019s recently released song \u201cDon\u2019t Put It All On Me,\u201d which his son Braison had written.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just love it so much,\u201d he said. \u201cI do credit that particular song with saving me<\/a>. It\u2019s part of it, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billy Ray shares Braison, 32, and Noah, 26, with ex-wife Tish Cyrus<\/b>, as well as kids Brandi, 39, Trace, 37, and Miley, 33. (The \u201cAchy Breaky Heart\u201d singer is also the father of son Christopher, 34, whom he shares with ex Kristin Luckey<\/b>.)<\/p>\n

Billy Ray and Tish\u2019s 2022 divorce spurned a divide among the Cyrus family.<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes change is scary, and I\u2019ll keep doing the wrong thing for a long time because I\u2019m scared of change,\u201d Billy Ray told People <\/i>of his divorce. \u201cWhen I finally do get the courage up to commit in my mind and say, \u2018I\u2019m going to do this,\u2019 then that\u2019s the way it is. No looking back. I think that\u2019s maybe sometimes good for everyone \u2014 to just let go.\u201d<\/p>\n
