Perrie Edwards<\/strong><\/a> is looking back on her 2015 split from Zayn Malik<\/strong><\/a>, hinting that he may have moved on to his next relationship prior to their breakup.<\/p>\n \u201cLet\u2019s just say there was \u2026 a bit of an overlap, you see, and I think when you\u2019re moving on with somebody else, you always get on better,\u201d Edwards, 32, claimed on the Tuesday, June 9, episode of Jamie Laing<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cFrom Great Company\u201d podcast. \u201cWhen you\u2019re the one left behind, that\u2019s when it\u2019s hard, because it\u2019s like, \u2018Oh s***, they\u2019ve left me for someone more beautiful than me, someone better than me,\u2019 whatever it is, that\u2019s how it felt at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n The Little Mix singer added that the \u201cnail in the coffin\u201d was seeing another woman, whom she did not name, in a music video for a song that Malik, 33, allegedly wrote about Edwards. (She did not specify the song, but Malik\u2019s 2016 music video for \u201cPillow Talk\u201d featured his then-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid<\/strong><\/a>. Malik and Hadid, 31, dated on and off from 2015 to 2021 and share daughter Khai, 5.)<\/p>\n \u201cI had, like, serious breakdowns, because it wasn\u2019t just the heartbreak I was dealing with,\u201d Edwards recalled of the aftermath of her split from Malik. \u201cI was dealing with everybody looking at me and I felt ridiculed. \u2026 I also was getting followed every two seconds and asked about it 24\/7, and it was the headlines, it was everywhere, and it was a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n Edwards noted that her dad struggled to see her hurting.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought, \u2018This is all getting a bit much.\u2019 And then I started crying my eyes out, and then my dad started crying,\u201d she said. \u201cHe was like, \u2018I don\u2019t know how I can take this pain away.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018You can\u2019t, nobody can. This is hellish.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Edwards and Malik met on The X Factor UK<\/em> in 2011 and began dating shortly after. The pair got engaged in 2013 but ultimately called it quits in 2015.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s so much that people don\u2019t know about that I would never say, even though I\u2019ve just spilled some beans, but there\u2019s so much that went into it \u2014 that I would never talk about \u2014 that I went through,\u201d Edwards continued.<\/p>\n Edwards claimed that her breakup from Malik made her realize the relationship dynamic was \u201cvery unhealthy<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n
