James Van Der Beek<\/b><\/a>\u2019s widow, Kimberly<\/b> Van Der Beek<\/b><\/span><\/a>, is still grateful the late actor was by her side when she suffered multiple pregnancy losses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so blessed I got to be married to this man and go through pregnancy loss and having babies with him \ud83e\udd7a<\/span>,\u201d Kimberly, 44, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, June 9, alongside a link to James\u2019 March 2023 appearance<\/span><\/a> on her \u201cBathroom Confidential\u201d podcast.<\/p>\n

James and Kimberly<\/a> welcomed six children<\/span>, in addition to navigating multiple miscarriages through the years. (James and Kimberly shared daughters Olivia, Annabel, Emilia and Gwendolyn, as well as sons Joshua and Jeremiah.)<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was just so much pain, and it was so unexpected because everything was right, everything was [a] fairy tale,\u201d the Dawson\u2019s Creek <\/i>alum said during the 2023 podcast episode<\/span><\/a>. \u201cEverything was coming together perfectly. It progressed very quickly into being worried about Kim. We were both just crying and sobbing and there was a lot of blood. Way more blood than any delivery.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJames Van Der Beek\u2019s wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, shared a heartfelt message about grief three months after the actor\u2019s death. \u201cYesterday was three months since we lost @vanderjames. To say I\u2019m heartbroken is a severe understatement,\u201d Kimberly, 44, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, May 12, alongside a series of photos from her life with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the time, James realized something was wrong when his wife said that she \u201cfelt off.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKim lied down in the shower and then wasn\u2019t waking up, so that\u2019s when I called 911,\u201d James tearfully recalled. \u201cYou were gone. The ambulance had taken you away. I got [our daughter] Gwen back to bed, and I\u2019m just sitting there in a bathroom full of blood, and a dead little baby on the counter. It was just a gut punch, an emotional gut punch.\u201d<\/p>\n

James was competing on Dancing With the Stars <\/i>season 28 at the time and announced the emotional news during the semi-finals.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife, Kimberly, and I went through every expecting parent\u2019s worst nightmare. We lost the baby,\u201d he said during the 2019 live broadcast. \u201cThe little soul that we had expected to welcome into our family took a shortcut to whatever lies beyond. You never know why these things happen, that\u2019s what I\u2019ve been telling my kids. All you know is that it brings you closer together, it breaks you open, it opens your heart, it deepens your appreciation. It makes you more human.\u201d<\/p>\n
