A scary moment unfolded Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In the fourth inning, Kansas City Royals starter Seth Lugo was hit in the head by a 106.6 mph line drive<\/a> off the bat of Texas Rangers outfielder Brandon Nimmo.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lugo immediately fell to the ground. The baseball ricocheted into right field as Royals manager Matt Quatraro and the training staff raced to the mound.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Nimmo also came over to check on his former New York Mets\u2019 teammate. Lugo was able to make it to his feet. He had a sizable lump on his forehead as he walked off the field under his own power.<\/p>\n

Seth Lugo got hit with a 107 MPH line drive on his forehead and immediately left the game.<\/p>\n

The Royals inserted right-handed pitcher Mason Black into the game. Prior to the injury, Lugo had allowed three hits in 3 \u2153 innings. He issued one walk and recorded two strikeouts.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This season, the Royals have dealt with key pitching injuries. KC starters Cole Ragans and Kris Bubic are currently sidelined with elbow injuries<\/a>. Meanwhile, top relievers Carlos Est\u00e9vez and Nick Mears are also on the injured list.<\/p>\n

Lugo entered play with a 2-4 record and 3.91 ERA.<\/p>\n
