{"id":2454728,"date":"2026-06-11T15:05:27","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T15:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2454728"},"modified":"2026-06-11T15:05:27","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T15:05:27","slug":"quilty-giovanni-entertainment-strike-preferred-look-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/quilty-giovanni-entertainment-strike-preferred-look-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Quilty, Giovanni Entertainment Strike Preferred-Look Deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/quilty\/\" id=\"auto-tag_quilty\" data-tag=\"quilty\">Quilty<\/a>, which makes a tool that uses AI to evaluate and score a screenplay to help determine its producibility, has landed its first partnership with a production company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe company, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2026\/film\/news\/quilty-ai-platform-scripts-development-1236702538\/\">launched<\/a> in February by founders film producer Daniel Wood and lawyer-turned-producer Simon Horsman, has struck a multiyear \u201cpreferred-look\u201d\u00a0deal with <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/giovanni-entertainment\/\" id=\"auto-tag_giovanni-entertainment\" data-tag=\"giovanni-entertainment\">Giovanni Entertainment<\/a>, the production company behind the Maika Monroe-led \u201cVegas: A Love Story\u201d\u00a0and the Emilie Hirsch-led \u201cIn Tandem.\u201d\u00a0The deal will give Giovanni preferred access to five of the top screenplays on Quilty\u2019s \u201cDiscovery Leaderboard,\u201d\u00a0a merit-based ranking users opt into with scripts that have earned high \u201cQuilty Scores.\u201d\u00a0There are currently about a dozen scripts on the leaderboard, Wood said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThose scores, out of 100, are the proprietary product of 12 different AI models analyzing a script on factors including story craft, market viability, culture and resonance and feasibility to help studios decide whether to greenlight a project. The average Quilty Score across genres is 62.4, with the majority of the platform\u2019s paid-tier scripts ranking at the \u201cdevelopment\u201d\u00a0level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThis is truly democratization at work,\u201d\u00a0Horsman told <em>Variety <\/em>in a recent interview. \u201cWe\u2019ve always said, maybe our first adopters are the people that don\u2019t have all the relationships in the industry, they don\u2019t know an agent, they don\u2019t know a manager, they don\u2019t even know how to call UTA and speak to a [literary] agent, but yet, here, a platform for limited costs, you can come in and be part of a system that you know will elevate or will surface your material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tQuilty has not spoken to other companies yet about similar deals, Horsman added, as they want to use the Giovanni deal as a test run.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe wanted to get the program up and running, frankly, to give Giovanni Entertainment a chance to see it working,\u201d\u00a0he said. \u201cOnce we start developing the network, what we want to do is try and bring people together to get stuff made\u2026 We want to build that community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tGiovanni does \u201cuse the tool internally as well, from the submissions that they get from other people and the projects they\u2019re working on,\u201d\u00a0Wood added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cAt Giovanni Entertainment, we\u2019re building a slate grounded in strong storytelling and smart commercial instincts,\u201d Giovanni James Guidotti, CEO of Giovanni Entertainment, said in a statement. \u201cQuilty gives us a powerful lens to identify exceptional material early\u2014before the rest of the market catches on. This partnership lets us move faster and with greater confidence on the projects that deserve to get made. We love the way Quilty is democratizing the business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHorsman has touted Quilty as a \u201c360-degree platform\u201d aimed at lowering the barrier of entry to the industry for aspiring screenwriters. Writers can pay $49.99 for an in-depth, AI-powered evaluation of their script.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe platform ran into some hiccups when TheWrap ran produced scripts for films such as \u201cChristy,\u201d \u201cBarbie\u201d and \u201cSinners,\u201d leading to \u201cQuilty Scores\u201d varying wildly from their actual success. (\u201cChristy,\u201d a financial flop, earned the highest score, while the Oscar-winning screenplay for \u201cSinners\u201d was derided as a \u201cTarantino wannabe.\u201d) Wood told <em>Variety<\/em> the platform was not initially prepared to handle films already produced, though he said the company has since worked to improve the platform to rectify such disparities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tQuilty currently has more than 1,500 registered users and has seen more than 2,700 scripts uploaded to the platform, according to the company. Horsman and Wood\u2019s relationship began after they sold price-comparison website PriceGrabber, which Wood co-founded and where Horsman served as general counsel, for $485 million to Experian in 2005. Horsman and Wood transitioned into entertainment as producers.
