The Strokes<\/a> have announced a huge New York show with Beach House<\/a> and Fcukers<\/a>, and pushed back the release date for new album \u2018Reality Awaits\u2019.<\/p>\n The highly anticipated record is the seventh from the New York indie icons, and the follow-up to 2020\u2019s \u2018The New Abnormal<\/a>\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n It was originally set to arrive on June 26, and has so far been previewed by the chic lead single \u2018Going Shopping<\/a>\u2019 and the nostalgic \u2018Falling Out Of Love<\/a>\u2019. Now, The Strokes have confirmed that the release date has been pushed back to July 24. Pre-order it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n While no reason has been shared for the delay, Julian Casablancas<\/a> and co. have confirmed a massive homecoming show in New York, taking place on October 2.<\/p>\n Set to be held at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park, this will mark their first New York City headline show since 2023, and will see them joined by Beach House, TV on the Radio<\/a> and Fcukers on the bill.<\/p>\n Tickets go on sale next Thursday (June 18) at 10am ET, and pre-sale options will be available from Wednesday June 17. They have already performed at Coachella 2026<\/a> \u2013 where they called out the CIA and the United States government<\/a> in their set \u2013 and are now getting ready for more festival appearances at Bonnaroo, Summer Sonic and more.<\/p>\n They also have announced a huge tour visiting the UK, North America, Europe and Japan.<\/a> It will be their first full run of headline dates in the UK and Ireland in over 20 years, and gigs include stops at London\u2019s O2. Support comes from Thundercat<\/a>, Cage the Elephant<\/a>, Hamilton Leithauser<\/a>, Fat White Family<\/a>, Alex Cameron and \u00d6L\u00dcM, and more dates have been added<\/a> due to huge demand.\u00a0<\/p>\n All of these shows will see The Strokes perform without guitarist Nick Valensi, as the band confirmed recently that he would be taking a \u201ctemporary break\u201d<\/a> from playing live.<\/p>\n The first two songs to be shared from \u2018Reality Awaits\u2019 have received a mixed response from fans, with many being divided over the use of a vocoder on Julian Casablancas<\/a>\u2019 voice \u2013 which gives it the same distinctive sound as seen on the hit 2013 Daft Punk<\/a> collab \u2018Instant Crush\u2019 and later tracks like 2020\u2019s \u2018At the Door\u2019.<\/p>\n In response to some backlash, guitarist and keyboard player Albert Hammond Jr has hit back at critics<\/a> and described \u2018Reality Awaits\u2019 as his \u201cfavourite album\u201d The Strokes have ever done. <\/p>\n He also said that working with Rick Rubin<\/a> on the record was \u201cone of his favourite recording experiences\u201d<\/a> as a musician.<\/p>\n\n<\/blockquote>\n
