Some FIFA World Cup<\/a> viewers are convinced that Shakira used a stand-in at Thursday\u2019s (June 11) opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the Colombian singer performed the tournament\u2019s official anthem, \u201cDai Dai.\u201d<\/p>\n The star-studded event featured performances by J Balvin, Man\u00e1, Lila Downs, and Shakira, ahead of the opening game between Mexico and South Africa. Shakira\u2019s performance saw her singing and dancing alongside cheerleaders while wearing a yellow mesh top, white shorts, and dark shades.<\/p>\n However, theories quickly spread on social media that the \u201cHips Don\u2019t Lie\u201d hitmaker was, well, lying. The rumor spread after one X user shared a clip of the performance, writing, \u201cThat\u2019s not Shakira. Watch how she messes up the step when she sings Dai Dai\u2026 That\u2019s a double. Shakira lied to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Others jumped aboard the theory, with one commenter adding, \u201cImmediately it was clear that it wasn\u2019t her. Legs totally different, much thinner, and her face. Even the hair.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFor some reason she used a body double, why, I don\u2019t know,\u201d added another.<\/p>\n \u201cThey slipped us the Temu Shakira!\u201d another quipped.<\/p>\n Another shared a screenshot of the performance, writing, \u201cThis person is NOT @shakira.\u201d<\/p>\n However, not everyone was on board with this wild conspiracy theory. Many pointed out how Shakira has a small but noticeable scar on her forehead, which was visible during the performance.<\/p>\n \u201cDays and days rehearsing just to send in a body double. She\u2019s Shakira and she looks spectacular, and like anyone, she gets nervous and flubbed a step,\u201d wrote one X user.<\/p>\n \u201cDon\u2019t be illogical, of course it\u2019s her, because she was even at the rehearsals. She just overdid the Botox,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n \u201cShe just got Botox and hasn\u2019t deswollen, also why would they put the exact same scar that shakira has on the \u2018impersonators\u2019 forhead,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n Another wrote, \u201cShakira\u2019s been in Mexico for days rehearsing, but apparently one random tweet is enough to convince some of you that it wasn\u2019t her.
