King Charles III\u2019s former head of security has been recognised
\nin the King\u2019s Birthday Honours List after decades spent protecting
\nthe Royal Family.<\/p>\n
Jagjivan Singh Khangura, known to colleagues and friends as
\n\u201cJag\u201d, has been appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order
\n(MVO) for services to royalty and specialist protection.<\/p>\n
The honour, which is bestowed personally by the King, recognises
\ndistinguished personal service to the Sovereign and the Royal
\nFamily.<\/p>\n
Mr Khangura served as the King\u2019s personal head of security for
\nmany years and was a familiar figure at some of the most
\nsignificant royal events of recent times, including the Coronation
\nand overseas state visits.<\/p>\n
Until recently, little was publicly known about the Metropolitan
\nPolice inspector, whose role required him to remain largely out of
\nthe spotlight while overseeing the monarch\u2019s protection.<\/p>\n
His identity emerged earlier this year following his retirement
\nfrom royal duties. Friends and colleagues gathered at Chelsea
\nBarracks to celebrate the conclusion of his distinguished career,
\nwith businessman James Eden describing him as \u201csimply one of the
\nfinest people you will ever meet\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mr Eden also praised the officer\u2019s dedication and
\nprofessionalism, describing him as \u201can absolute hero\u201d.<\/p>\n
The King\u2019s Birthday Honours List formally recognises Mr Khangura
\nas an Inspector with the Metropolitan Police Service and awards him
\nthe MVO for services to royalty and specialist protection.<\/p>\n
The recognition places him among a number of royal household
\nstaff and trusted aides honoured by the King this year through the
\nRoyal Victorian Order.<\/p>\n
Others recognised include Sir Michael Dixon, Head of the Royal
\nMedical Household and the King\u2019s personal physician, who is
\npromoted to Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO),
\nand David White, Garter Principal King of Arms, who also receives a
\nKCVO.<\/p>\n
Leonora, Countess of Lichfield, Lady-in-Waiting to the Princess
\nRoyal, is promoted to Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order
\n(DCVO), while Annabelle Galletley, Assistant Private Secretary and
\nLady-in-Waiting to the Duchess of Edinburgh, is appointed a
\nCommander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO).<\/p>\n
