Kansas City Royals left-handed starter Kris Bubic didn\u2019t respond well from his most recent rehab start this week.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Bubic allowed six runs (five earned), eight hits and one walk in 1 and 1\/3 innings in Tuesday\u2019s outing with Triple-A Omaha<\/a>. The 28-year-old veteran threw 29 of 49 pitches for strikes against the Las Vegas Aviators (the Athletics\u2019 Triple-A affiliate).<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Bubic was scheduled to make another rehab start this weekend. However, he will now get another medical evaluation.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will not make his start on Sunday,\u201d Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. \u201cHis forearm feels good, (but) his shoulder didn\u2019t respond as well to the previous start. So he is going to see a doctor sometime this weekend, and we\u2019ll know more at that point.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Royals are currently without three starting pitchers. Bubic joins Cole Ragans (elbow) and Seth Lugo (concussion) as key hurlers on the injured list.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Bubic was placed on the 15-day injured list<\/a> on May 18 (retroactive May 15) due to left elbow soreness. He owns a 4.11 ERA in nine starts.<\/p>\n

The Royals have filled the void with young starters Luinder Avila and Stephen Kolek, who have pitched well and are lined up to start during this weekend\u2019s series against the Houston Astros.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Avila will start Friday\u2019s opener against the Astros at Kauffman Stadium. Meanwhile, Kolek is scheduled to pitch Sunday\u2019s series finale.<\/p>\n
