Ray Lin said his new restaurant serving Chinese street food and live music brings something unique to downtown Quincy.<\/p>\n Lin\u2019s new restaurant 8+1 BBQ Livehouse<\/a> recently opened at 16 Cottage Ave., replacing 16C, which closed late last year<\/a> after nine years in business.<\/p>\n \u201cIts a great place for Asian culture to have a place like this,\u201d said Lin, who has been working in restaurants since high school. \u201cThis concept, we\u2019ve been thinking about it for a couple of years and we made sure we got the idea right, and the location popped up and we had the chance to acquire it.\u201d<\/p>\n Lin said the name 8+1 symbolizes the shapes of a guitar and a skewer stick, which are the premises of the restaurant. He said the location is great due to its proximity to other bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n He and his business partners did a full renovation inside the restaurant before opening last month.<\/p>\n Lin said the menu is Chinese BBQ, and includes many items served on kebabs. Some of the options on the menu include grilled lamb, beef, pork belly and chicken thighs.<\/p>\n “It’s mainly on skewers that we grill,” he said. “It’s very traditional Chinese street food.”<\/p>\n The menu also features foil pots with seafood like clams, oysters or jumbo shrimp.<\/p>\n “It’s a type of seafood dish and in China they put a foil pot on the grill so it’s easy to cook on the street,” Lin said.<\/p>\n Ray Lin said his new restaurant serving Chinese street food and live music brings something unique to downtown Quincy.<\/p>\n The restaurant also offers wine, beer, sake and a cocktail menu, as well as $1 oysters every night.<\/p>\n Lin said the restaurant hosts free live music throughout the week and a stage ready for performances.
