The star-studded ceremony also featured performances from J Balvin, Man\u00e1, and Lila Downs ahead of the opening match.<\/p>\n

After clips of the performance began circulating on social media<\/a>, some viewers questioned whether the woman onstage was actually Shakira.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon’t think that was Shakira…\u201d one commenter wrote. Another joked, \u201cShakira from Temu.\u201d Others fueled the speculation with remarks like, \u201cThat\u2019s a clone of Shakira,\u201d and \u201cI know a stunt double when I see one\u2014those hips are lying.\u201d One viewer even asked, \u201cIs Shakira in the room with us?\u201d<\/p>\n

Not everyone was buying into the conspiracy theory, however. Many fans were quick to defend the singer and point out that it was clearly her.<\/p>\n

Ahead of this year’s tournament, the 49-year-old reflected on what makes the event so special. Speaking to People this month, she said, \u201cEvery World Cup is really magical, and I think this one is going to be all about bringing people together in this very sensitive moment in time, socially and politically.\u201d<\/p>\n
