But despite its lasting popularity, the Wilson sisters have admitted the song eventually became one of their least favorite tracks to perform. The band only performed the track 15 times<\/a> during their concerts between 1989 and 2001, a surprisingly low number given the song’s popularity.<\/p>\n “For a while, [Ann] just had a problem with ‘Magic Man,'” Nancy Wilson told Ultimate Classic Rock<\/a>. “And I had to talk her into it again. I said, ‘Look, this is every young girl’s experience. You don’t have to pretend you’re a teenage girl. You just have to sing it to every girl.”<\/p>\n Nancy’s perspective resonated with Ann.<\/p>\n “So we brought ‘Magic Man’ back into the set,” Nancy explained. “And now we do the entire long version [live] with all the sections, all the diverse sections that go by.\u201d<\/p>\n “Magic Man” opened the door to a remarkable career that would later produce classics including “Crazy on You,” “Barracuda,” “Alone” and “These Dreams.”<\/p>\n Nearly 50 years after its release, “Magic Man” remains one of the defining songs of 1970s rock.
