There\u2019s no shortage of entertainment to get you out and about in and around the Queen City. <\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FRIDAY, JUNE 12<\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>24 Foundation: Dam to Dam<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p>24 Foundation is holding its 24-mile standup paddleboard endurance challenge from Mount Holly to Tega Cay, S.C. The Dam to Dam event is an 11-hour community-driven endurance journey along the Catawba River to support cancer services and survivor programs. <\/p>\n<p>The event starts at 6:30 a.m. at the Mt. Holly Boat Landing on Elm Avenue and ends at Tega Cay Beach Club. There is no registration fee, but each paddler must raise at least $1,500 to participate. <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/24foundation.org\/dam2dam\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/24foundation.org\/dam2dam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Visit here<\/strong><\/a> to donate to the cause. <\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Belmont Friday Night Live \u2013 Country Night<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Come out to downtown Belmont for Friday Night Live, a themed night filled with live music, \u201cbest dressed\u201d contests, and more. This Friday\u2019s event is Country Night, so grab your boots and cowboy hats! The events are free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. The festivities kick off at 5 p.m. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"ad-unit ad-unit--mr1_ab\">\n<\/aside>\n<p><strong><em>Gastonia PD vs FD: \u201cBattle of the Badges\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The annual Battle of the Badges in Gastonia is back! The friendly rivalry softball game between Gastonia\u2019s Police and Fire Departments will take place at the Sims Legion Park. Proceeds for the event benefit the Special Olympics of Gaston County. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a basketball jersey. Meet real firefighters, explore antique and modern fire trucks, and spend a fun-filled morning at the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer. There will be activities for all ages, with special appearances from local fire departments, the NC Forestry Service, Norfolk Southern, and more. <\/p>\n<p>The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Following the festival, there will be a parade. Experience the richness of Black history and culture through music, special performances, and supporting local businesses and creatives. <\/p>\n<p>The festivities start at 5 p.m. with a parade in Ranlo, ending at the Ranlo Ball Field. At the ball field is where the kickoff begins, with vendors, food, and family fun.
