Its team of editors will now be appearing in videos within \u2018New Music Friday\u2019 to talk about some of each week\u2019s tracks.\n\n\n<aside>\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/aside>\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This isn\u2019t a new idea for Spotify \u2013 these video cameos began last September\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/musically.com\/2025\/09\/15\/spotify-foregrounds-its-human-curators-in-the-drop-weekly\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">with a playlist called \u2018The Drop Weekly\u2019<\/a>. Spotify says that this has been successful enough to roll the idea out to its new-releases playlist.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cListeners respond strongly to editor-led discovery experiences, resulting in more than double the engagement through saves and likes,\u201d\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.spotify.com\/2026-06-12\/new-music-friday-playlist-editor-videos\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted the company in its announcement<\/a>. There\u2019s no news yet on when this might expand beyond the US.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In separate news from Spotify, its data team has been\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/spotifynews.substack.com\/p\/the-surprising-new-geography-of-nelly\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crunching some numbers for Nelly Furtado\u2019s 2006 album \u2018Loose\u2019<\/a>\u00a0for the company\u2019s Substack.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It has more than 4.4bn streams overall, but 940m of them \u2013 its biggest year yet \u2013\u00a0came in 2025.
