And I would go, \u2018yeah, yeah,\u2019 and [I\u2019d laugh] and pretend I understood what he said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">While she couldn\u2019t comprehend his exact wording, Field said that she understood the <em>feeling<\/em> behind Mitchum\u2019s comments and \u201cthat he was somehow accepting of me,\u201d adding, \u201cHe was good to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cThe only thing that I understood that he said to me \u2014 and then I thought, did I understand that right? \u2014\u00a0he said, \u2018You know, you&#8217;re one of us,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cAnd I went, \u2018Well, okay.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Field admitted that she \u201cdidn\u2019t really know\u201d what Mitchum\u2019s comment meant at the time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">\u201cIt certainly wasn&#8217;t overly sentimental or overly flattering.
