In New York City, following a historic win from the New York Knicks, Alicia Keys and Jay-Z\u2019s \u201cEmpire State of Mind\u201d has been on repeat. Last night, after their win over the San Antonio Spurs, crowds were screaming<\/a> it in the streets. And for another very lucky crowd, they were singing it along with Keys herself at the closing party for the Tribeca Film Festival.<\/p>\n The One9-directed documentary Alicia Keys: Girl From Hell\u2019s Kitchen<\/em> premiered last night, followed by a special after-party where Keys sang a few songs and also brought out Nas.<\/p>\n She opened her performance with a cover of Barbra Streisand\u2019s \u201cThe Way We Were,\u201d followed by Keys\u2019 2001 hit \u201cFallin\u2019\u201d and \u201cPawn It All\u201d with Tony- and Grammy-winning artist Shoshana Bean. Nas came out and the two performed Illmatic\u2019s \u201cRepresent\u201d and \u201cN.Y. State Of Mind,\u201d then \u201cStreets Of New York.\u201d She also performed Billy Joel\u2019s \u201cNew York State Of Mind,\u201d and of course closed her set with \u201cEmpire State Of Mind.\u201d<\/p>\n Based on what I\u2019ve seen online, the city seems to be in a very special kind of euphoric chaos. This feels like the perfect little set to celebrate not only Keys\u2019 legacy, but NYC, baby \u2014 where dreams are made of ‘There’s Nothing You Can’t Do’.<\/p>\n Knicks in five.
