In a featurette<\/a>, Johnson said, \u201cWe all agreed that Lin-Manuel Miranda should write one more song.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\tLaga\u2018aia explained that the song is \u201cthe perfect symbolism for this movie. Dwaye and Auli\u2019i sing about finding me along the way, and our journey\u2019s colliding.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tMiranda said, \u201cWhat\u2019s really wonderful is Auli\u2019i is a producer on this film. So we thought, what if there\u2019s a musical conversation between Auli\u2019i Moana and Katie\u2019s Moana? That became the idea for the song.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tJohnson added that the song was special to him because \u201cit\u2019s our OG Moana and your live-action Moana coming together, and then it\u2019s your boy coming in.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThe film which opens on July 10 follows an adventurous teenager named Moana as she embarks on a quest to save her village on the island of Motunui.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe live-action adaptation features music by Mark Mancina, Miranda and Opetaia Foa\u2019i; Mancina returned to score the film.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe film\u2019s original soundtrack is out on June 26. <\/p>\n
\n\tIn addition to the soundtrack, an album inspired by \u201cMoana\u201d and the music of the Pacific, titled \u201cMoana: Voices Across The Ocean,\u201d will be available digitally. Executive-produced by Dwayne Johnson, Lauren Hashian, Tiana Nonosina Liufau and Kayla Fa\u2018amaligi, the album features 15 tracks (14 original songs plus one cover song) from Pacific artists representing seven islands and cultures, including Stan Walker, Dinah Jane, Iam Tongi, Paula Fuga, Maoli and Common Kings.<\/p>\n
