Hoobastank<\/a> are back with \u201cHow Do You Sleep?,\u201d their first new song in eight years, and it finds the California band going all the way back to its \u201990s punk roots.<\/p>\n While Hoobastank are best known for their ubiquitous ballad \u201cThe Reason\u201d and their mainstream-rock hit \u201cCrawling the Dark,\u201d the band started out as a ska-punk act when they formed in Agoura Hills more than 30 years ago.<\/p>\n Get Hoobastank + Staind Tickets Here<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cHow Do You Sleep?,\u201d which was produced by Howard Benson, sounds more in line with The Offspring and Sum 41 than with Hoobastank\u2019s best-known songs, as frontman Doug Robb\u2019s delivery delves almost into hardcore territory. In addition to releasing the single today, Hoobastank also performed the song at Vans Warped Tour in Washington, D.C. over the weekend.<\/p>\n Related Video<\/p>\n \u201cI feel good about releasing new music,\u201d stated Robb. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of like a creative \u2018pressure valve\u2019 has been opened. Howard Benson\u2019s enthusiasm was a big part of opening it for us. He gave us direction but also a lot more freedom than he may have previously.\u201d<\/p>\n As of now, \u201cHow Do You Sleep?\u201d appears to be a stand-alone single, as Hoobastank have not announced any plans for a new album.
