Good news for melo-death metal fans: The pioneers of the rock genre, Dark Tranquillity, have just confirmed they\u2019re working on new music<\/a> for their first album in three years.<\/p>\n In an interview<\/a> with Rock Hard<\/strong> magazine, transcribed by Blabbermouth<\/strong><\/a>, DT frontman Mikael Stanne<\/strong> dished on the band\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a lot of work in progress, actually,\u201d Stanne said. \u201cThat\u2019s what we\u2019re doing right now. \u2026 We\u2019ve been writing for a couple of months already.\u201d<\/p>\n The forthcoming album follows the Swedish<\/strong> melodic death metal band\u2019s 2024<\/strong> album, Endtime Signals<\/strong>, which critics praised<\/a> as an introspective addition to the band\u2019s discography. Feeling the pressure to produce another gem, Stanne said that\u2019s why they\u2019re taking their time with this one.<\/p>\n \u201cSure, the pressure is on, but it’s always on,\u201d he said. \u201cYou always have to think, like, How do we top the last one? But that\u2019s why we take our time with it, [to] make sure that nothing is left to chance, everything is exactly what we want.\u201d<\/p>\n At the time of writing, DT is shooting for a 2027<\/strong> release, sometime after summer, giving fans something to look forward to.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s how these things work,\u201d he said. \u201cIt takes forever, but it\u2019s going really great, and I\u2019m really excited. \u2026 I think we know ourselves better as a band now, so I think that\u2019s gonna hopefully \u2026 I\u2019m pretty sure it\u2019s gonna translate into songwriting and how the album\u2019s gonna sound, too. So it\u2019s super exciting. I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n DT burst onto the melo-death metal scene in Gothenburg, Sweden<\/strong>, back in 1989<\/strong>.
