\u201cDaily Show\u201d host Jon Stewart<\/a> on Monday slammed President Donald Trump<\/a> for dragging America into a deadly and expensive war with Iran, only to emerge with the framework of a deal strikingly similar to the one he tore up. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Stewart played clips of Trump attacking the previous deal, negotiated by then-President Barack Obama<\/a>, as a \u201chorrible, stupid deal\u201d and accusing his predecessor of paying \u201d$150 billion for nothing.\u201d Trump described the payment as a \u201cbribe\u201d and said that approach \u201cnever works.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Stewart sarcastically agreed. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cExactly! Thank you, sir!\u201d he said. \u201cWhat kind of a fucking idiot would try and dangle billions of dollars in exchange for a deal with Iran?\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI guess it\u2019s that kind of fucking idiot,\u201d Stewart said, as he looked at an image of Trump on the screen. \u201cThere you have it, folks. Done! Only the great Donald Trump could fight a costly war to get the United States to remove the sanctions put on Iran by Donald Trump. In the words of the great Winston Churchill, \u2018You played yourself.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier in the day, however, Vice President JD Vance<\/a> indicated such a fund would be paid for by Gulf allies, and would be \u201cthe sort of thing they could have access to\u201d as part of the deal. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
