Prince George will attend Eton College from September with
\nKensington Palace announcing the plans as the summer school term
\ndraws to a close.<\/p>\n
After months of speculation, the Prince and Princess of Wales
\nhave confirmed they\u2019ve chosen Eton for their elder son.<\/p>\n
George, 12, will begin there in September as a boarder.<\/p>\n
The prince, who is second in line to the throne, will be
\nfollowing in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, who
\nattended the prestigious school for five years.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s understood that it was Diana, Princess of Wales who pressed
\nfor her two sons to attend Eton. Prince Harr followed his older
\nbrother there. The school currently charges around \u00a363,000 per year
\nin fees.<\/p>\n
Just weeks ago, Prince William revealed that George is already
\ngetting used to boarding, staying overnight occasionally at his
\ncurrent school, Lambrook.<\/p>\n
However, the move to Eton will mark the first longer term
\nboarding for Prince George.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s the latest step in a school career that has seen the young
\nprince attend a range of establishments. He was a pupil at Thomas\u2019
\nSchool in Battersea between 2017 and 2022 before moving to
\nLambrook. His start at the school co-incided with another big
\nchange. The day after he began, Queen Elizabeth II died and the
\nprince went from third to second in line to the throne.<\/p>\n
His sister, Princess Charlotte, and younger brother, Prince
\nLouis, are also pupils at Lambrook.<\/p>\n
While Prince William attended Eton, before moving on to study at
\nSt. Andrew\u2019s University in Scotland, King Charles was a pupil at
\nGordonstoun and later studied at Cambridge University.<\/p>\n
Queen Elizabeth II was largely educated at home by private
\ntutors.<\/p>\n
The decision to send George to Eton establishes a new tradition
\nof future heirs attending the school which was set up in the 15th
\ncentury by another king, Henry VI.<\/p>\n
