You can hear all her discoveries live on 88Nine at 10 p.m. every Monday on <\/i>What\u2019s All This: Adventures in New Music<\/u><\/b><\/a>.<\/i><\/p>\n Brooklyn electro-pop artist Chris Stewart is getting set to release a new album under his Black Marble project. \u201cJim Carol New Year\u201d is the lead single for Life in Small Spaces<\/u><\/i><\/a>, which revolves around Stewart\u2019s shifting view on the music industry and his role in it, trying to make ends meet and taking stock of reality vs. illusory.<\/p>\n \u201c[Life in Small Spaces<\/i>] is what I want to talk about as an artist,\u201d he said. \u201cIt’s where I am at this exact moment, and I know I’m not alone in how I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n Sonically, the album trades walls of synths for more guitar, and Stewart explains the reason for the change as a way to \u201ccreate this chime-y hypnotic quality, like a radio dial that is between two stations.\u201d You\u2019ll be able to hear that when Live in Small Spaces<\/i> drops Aug. 21, with a tour following that stops at Chicago\u2019s Thalia Hall on Sept. 5.<\/p>\nBest new indie music this week<\/h2>\n
