Jacklin\u2019s latest album is named after the pub, The Gem, located in the inner Melbourne suburb of Collingwood. It was a place where she pushed herself outside her comfort zone when she moved to Melbourne in 2017. Rat Shack Studios is above the pub, where the album was created.<\/p>\n
Initially, the plan was to complete the album in two weeks, like Jacklin always has. However, that wasn\u2019t the case: the record took almost a year to complete, following tinkering with songs in the studio.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Gem<\/em> felt like a metaphor for the whole process, because a lot of it did feel like digging,\u201d she explained. \u201cI felt like I was doing it almost in the dark, just trusting I was going to find something.\u201d<\/p>\nThe Pressure To Party<\/em> singer will promote the album with a string of performances at independent record stores across the UK and Ireland later this month, followed by tour dates across North America, the UK and Europe from October into early 2027.<\/p>\nJulia Jacklin is one of Australia\u2019s most revered, celebrated songwriters. The Gem<\/em> follows three celebrated solo records: 2016\u2019s Don\u2019t Let The Kids Win<\/em>, 2019\u2019s Crushing<\/em>, and 2022\u2019s PRE PLEASURE.<\/em><\/p>\nJacklin has received nominations at the ARIA <\/strong>and Libera Awards<\/strong>, to name a few, has sold out shows globally, and has shared the stage with Mitski<\/strong>, Lana Del Rey<\/strong>, Courtney Barnett<\/strong>, and Faye Webster<\/strong>. She\u2019s appeared on festival stages like Glastonbury<\/strong>, Primavera<\/strong>, Newport Folk<\/strong> and Pitchfork Music Festival<\/strong>, with albums charting on the ARIA and Billboard <\/strong>charts.<\/p>\n
