Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a> is soon becoming a member of the Middle-earth. As per the latest development, the 30-year-old actress in joining the stellar cast of “The Lord of the Rings<\/a>: The Hunt for Gollum” as an elf.<\/p>\n

The prequel to the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy is set to get a worldwide release by Warner Bros. on Dec. 17, 2027. <\/p>\n

Taylor-Joy is joining as one of the newer entrants in the ensemble cast, that includes the likes of Kate Winslet (Marigol), Jamie Dornan (Strider) and Leo Woodall (Halvard). <\/p>\n

Based on the characters created by JRR Tolkien, the film will be directed by Andy Serkis, who will also reprise the role of the Stoor Hobbit, Gollum. Apart from Serkis, Sir Ian McKellen (as Gandalf), Elijah Wood (Frodo) and Lee Pace (King Thranduil) will also reprise their respective roles from the previous trilogy that was released between 2001 to 2003. <\/p>\n

Per Variety, Taylor-Joy will be essaying the role Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm. The Golden Globe winning actress’ character has been described as \u201ca trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor-Joy’s addition to the cast got the fans talking about her elfin features which could readily fit in the LOTR universe. <\/p>\n

One of the fans noted, “She\u2019s got an elf face, makes sense.”<\/p>\n

Someone else added, “anya as an elv is perfect casting,” while another fan chimed in, “An incredible casting choice. Anya Taylor-Joy already has the presence of a First Age Elf.”<\/p>\n

Apart from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Tolkien’s Middle-earth universe also boasts “The Hobbit” trilogy. The three films of this series were released between 2012 to 2014. <\/p>\n

While much of the film’s plot is still under the wraps, the upcoming prequel will follow the storyline leading upto the events of the trilogy\u2019s first installment, \u201cThe Fellowship of the Ring.\u201d It will reportedly follow the eponymous “hunt” of Gollum through the Middle-earth. <\/p>\n

In an interview with The Times, Gandalf himself revealed what the fans could expect from the film. McKellen revealed that while Aragorn will lead the quest to search for Gollum, Gandalf will take on the role of an overseer. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe script is designed to appeal to people who like Lord of the Rings,\u201d McKellen shared with Times<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s an adventure story, Aragorn trying to find Gollum with Gandalf directing operations from the sidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the “The Hunt for Gollum,” the fantasy franchise will move on to the next installment<\/a> with \u201cThe Lord of the Rings: Shadow of the Past,\u201d which will focus on the eighth chapter of “The Fellowship of the Ring,” \u201cFogs on the Barrow-downs.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
