Vice President JD Vance tried to spin Whoopi Goldberg\u2019s wording on \u201cThe View\u201d on Tuesday, but she was not having it. The ABC moderator immediately cut the man off to correct him, and warned him to not \u201cstart any stuff with me.\u201d<\/p>\n
The moment came as Whoopi asked the vice president about the treatment of people of color in America, wondering what they\u2019ve done to the Trump administration \u201cthat has allowed it to really stigmatize\u201d them. At first, Vance appeared to not understand the question \u2014 which earned an audible groan from the audience.<\/p>\n
Whoopi defended Vance though, and rephrased her question for him, reminding him that he has people of color in his own family.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re taking down the actual history that happened in this country,\u201d Whoopi explained. \u201cSlavery happened, all kinds of stuff happened, and it seems that it has been very easy for this administration to remove that, and also to denigrate Black folks who have worked their behinds off to get this American dream.\u201d<\/p>\n
Host Sunny Hostin was quick to chime in with examples, which Vance expressed appreciation for. But then, he restated Whoopi\u2019s perceived question.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo you say that we\u2019re anti-minority or anti-black \u2014 \u201d he started.<\/p>\n
\u201cNo I didn\u2019t say that!\u201d Whoopi immediately cut in. \u201cI asked \u2014 see? Don\u2019t start any stuff with me, man. Don\u2019t get me in trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n
The correction earned loud cheers from the audience, and an admission from Vance that it was \u201cfair\u201d and he \u201cmisinterpreted\u201d her actual question.<\/p>\n
