Girls star Andrew Rannells<\/strong> has confirmed that he dated celebrity.land anchor Anderson Cooper<\/strong> <\/a>about 20 years ago. The 47-year-old actor said his relationship with Cooper inspired the romance between his Girls character, Elijah, and TV host Dill Harcourt.<\/p>\n During an episode of Daily Beast\u2019s Obsessed: The Podcast, Rannells described, as quoted by People<\/a>, \u201cI told [creators]\u00a0Lena\u00a0[Dunham] and\u00a0Jenni Konner\u00a0a story about when I was 25 that I had dated Anderson Cooper. And I told them about the experience and what that was like.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThen it became the story that Elijah had in the series,\u201d explaining he and Cooper had \u201ca very brief relationship.\u201d \u201cBut when I told them that, they were like, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s a fun story.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n It later became part of Elijah\u2019s storyline in Season 5 of the HBO series.
