G\u00f6rel Hanser, the manager of Abba and often referred to as the band\u2019s unofficial \u201cfifth member,\u201d has died at the age of 76.<\/p>\n

The band announced Hanser\u2019s death on social media<\/a>. No cause of death was given.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of G\u00f6rel Hanser. We have lost our most loved friend and closest colleague,\u201d the post said. \u201cThe loss is immeasurable. We ask that you respect our privacy in this time of grief.\u201d<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s four members, Agnetha F\u00e4ltskog, Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, signed the statement.<\/p>\n

According to the Daily Beast<\/a>, Hanser got to know the band while working with their record label before they gained fame.<\/p>\n

She became their personal manager when the band\u2019s popularity exploded in the 1970s with hits such as \u201cFernando,\u201d \u201cDancing Queen,\u201d \u201cTake a Chance On Me,\u201d \u201cSuper Trooper\u201d and \u201cGimme! Gimme! Gimme!\u201d<\/p>\n

The band wrote a song to celebrate Hanser\u2019s 30th birthday, \u201cS\u00e5ng Till G\u00f6rel.\u201d<\/p>\n
