Two years on from that,\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2026\/06\/meta-launching-new-features-500-million-monthly-threads-users\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">it\u2019s just reached 500 million<\/a>.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s monthly active users, and is up from 400 million in August 2025, meaning that Threads has been adding a neat net average of 10 million active users a month since then.\n\n\n<aside>\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/aside>\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instagram celebrated the latest milestone by announcing that its \u2018communities\u2019 feature is emerging from beta with some new additions: a hub to make it easier to find and switch between them included.\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The top-level \u2018Music Threads\u2019 community has 642,000 members at the time of writing, while popular specific communities in the music space include BTS (342,000 members), Stray Kids (179,000) and K-Pop (162,000). So yes, there\u2019s a theme there\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is also a new feature called \u2018Your Algo\u2019 which gives users a bit more control over what posts they see in their feed: opting for more or less of certain topics for one, three or seven days. Not permanently, then: clearly there are limits to how much control Threads users are going to be allowed.\n\n\n\n<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The big question around Threads\u2019 latest milestone, though, is how it compares to X, its keenest rival.
